Changelog
A dated record of real changes to PlainHireCheck's dataset and site: data refreshes, corrections, and trust improvements. See the editorial & corrections policy for how reports are verified. We never backfill or invent an entry, an empty gap between dates means nothing changed.
PlainHireCheck launched on March 19, 2026, and its licensing dataset was most recently refreshed on June 27, 2026. See the methodology page for how the dataset is built.
- Trust
Added a "report a data issue" link that carries the page you came from, and a substantive corrections process on the methodology page (how reports are verified, what gets fixed, how it's logged).
- Correction
Removed a "Reviewed by" claim on research pages that overstated our editorial review process; replaced it with an honest description of how the pages are compiled.
- Correction
Found and fixed a chart rendering bug that was showing all-zero values for a subset of states.
- Correction
Removed a fabricated federal-sources citation block and stopped auto-generating fabricated "Published" dates on guide pages.
- Correction
Corrected a wrong hand-typed state licensing claim and disclosed the methodology behind the strictness-score calculation.
- Data refresh
Refreshed the licensing dataset (trades, states, and per-state requirements) against current state contractor licensing board records.
- Launch
PlainHireCheck launched with contractor licensing requirements covering all 50 states plus DC.
